Description:

This half-acre site, occupies a prominent location on Fitzwilliam Quay and overlooks the River Dodder in Dublin. The area has undergone a transformation over recent years as industrial and warehousing sites have made way for residential developments. These have revitalised the centre of an inner suburban village. The Fitzwilliam Quay scheme was divided into two phases and comprised 85 units with 2 retail units and individual own door offices at street level. All of which fronted onto Ringsend Village.

The development is a RC concrete frame over a piled basement carpark. The blocks are a mixture of four and six storey blocks. All living areas are south facing and have full height sliding screens behind a continuous balustrade. This allows the living areas to act as balconies overlooking the courtyard.

The uppermost level apartments have stairs rising from the dining areas onto private roof terraces. A simple palette of materials, such as Staffordshire blue brick and render/galvanized steelwork were used to acknowledge the industrial history of the site.
