Description:

The new head office development for the Food Safety Authority is located at the Department of Agriculture’s Backweston campus. The building is a total area of 6,050m2 and is divided into three wings, each wing links to a central atrium hub. The design objective for this project was to provide an environmental and user friendly work space that includes sustainable solutions such as natural ventilation with openable sections to the strip windows.

There has been extensive use of different wood species throughout the project and all have been obtained from sustainable sources. Similarly, landscaping around the surrounding area included the creation of earthworks such as attenuation ponds where over 30,000 plants were planted to encourage the re-development of the natural ecology in the area.

This is a multi-award winning building for design and sustainability.
