Description:

This project entailed the refurbishment of an existing Oncology and Radiotherapy unit and the provision of a new extension in Cork University Hospital. The development provided two new linear accelerator units, a new brachytherapy treatment unit and a new CT simulator. Other additions included associated accommodation, an entrance and reception area, a chemotherapy day ward and an administration wing.

The project was carried out on a phased basis over a 16 month period to permit the continued operation of the existing unit. This resulted in a complex programme of work phases being negotiated and programmed to ensure that the existing hospital services were maintained throughout the construction period.
