This recent aerial photograph shows the excellent progress being made by Walls Construction on the Hamilton Gardens residential project located on the former CIE lands at Carnlough Road, Dublin 7. The completed development will consist of 484 apartment units in nine blocks (A to I), ranging from four to seven storeys and a single residential dwelling. The image shows that the site is bounded to the East by the rail line, to the west by housing along Carnlough Road, while notable features include the O’Connell Tower in Glasnevin Cemetery which can be seen in the top centre of the photograph. There are currently five tower cranes on site and a mobile crane is used as required. On closer examination, Block G, situated towards the southern part of the site, is at 2nd floor level and is 120m in length, rising to 4 storeys. Blocks E, C B & A, all running parallel to Carnlough Road, will also be four storeys. Of these structures Block E is complete to roof with windows being installed, while blocks C and B will be at roof completion stage by the end of November. To the left of the photo and the North side of the site is Block A, with the first floor currently being poured. Finally, Blocks F and D, will be the tallest buildings constructed at seven storeys, currently have ground floors complete with rising elements ongoing.
