A month has quickly passed since the reopening of our construction sites on the 18th May last, in line with the Government’s Roadmap for a phased lifting of the COVID-19 restrictions.
As an industry, we were in a privileged position to be allowed to resume at that stage, based on our ability to demonstrate that we could carry out site-based activities in a safe, socially distant manner.
A lot of effort has gone into developing our industry specific CIF Standard Operating Procedures, together with other measures such as the Government’s National Return to Work Safety Protocol and HSE guidelines. At national level these include the COVID-19 on-line induction and the selection and training of COVID-19 Compliance Officers.
Furthermore, we have implemented site specific COVID-19 operating procedures, including site preparatory works, enhanced hygiene facilities, staggered break times, Risk Assessment Measures, daily briefings and took box talks and the provision of appropriate PPE.
During this phased return to work we will continue to assess our workplaces to ensure the health and safety of our employees, subcontractors, design team partners and the communities we work in.
