Frank Kelly, Construction Director, Walls Construction, took part in a panel discussion at the CIF Annual Conference 2020 on Thursday 1st October 2020. The discussion topic was titled: “Future Builders – People are the answer to the construction productivity challenge.” The panel considered issues relating to how to reimagine the way we work, including how new technologies including off-site construction and modular building methods could be adopted to increase productivity in construction. Frank proposed earlier ownership of the off-site construction aspects of the project by the client and design team, as when it gets to site, modifying the design to accommodate off-site construction is likely to increase costs and decrease productivity. The other panel members were Niav O’Higgins, Partner, Arthur Cox Solicitors, Maura Winston – Chief People Officer, Cairn Homes Plc and John Downey, Downey Planning & Architecture.
