Following on from the success of the Rosemount Golf Society’s 1st outing of the year our masterclass players felt fit to take on a weekend of Golf to continue to showcase their skills. This venture saw our members turn their attention to Athlone where they took on 2 very scenic courses in Glasson Golf Club on Saturday followed by Athlone Golf Club on Sunday. A fine rest bite was enjoyed by the players between rounds as all indulged themselves in a stay in the lovely Hodson Bay Hotel, enjoying a fine meal, Leinster’s victory and even a few beverage’s to celebrate it all!
Back to the golf and success was seen by numerous players over the 2 day’s with all players taking full advantage of the beautiful weather and posting some great scores. Saturday in Glasson Golf Club saw Cormac MacCarthaigh taking the honours with 39 points followed up by John Donnelly & Willie White respectively. John & Cormac were also part of the overall winning team joined by Ollie Conway & Paul McDermott. Sunday’s outing then saw Paddy O’Brien victorious with 34 points seeing off the charge of Seán Moroney and again John Donnelly who again wrestled his way onto the podium. The final competition of the weekend saw our members pitted against each other in match play battle of the ages – Commercial Team -V- Construction Team – this saw The Commercial team fend off a rallying charge to take the match 7 – 4. Commercial Captain Willie White was delighted to accept the cup along with the bragging rights for the next year on behalf of the team and is already looking forward to defending the crown next year!
