Walls Construction have been competing for the coveted Rosemount Cup since 1974. The location for this year’s competition was chosen as Blainroe GC in Co. Wicklow. Last Saturday, society members took to this beautiful golf course hoping to be crowned Rosemount Cup champion. Seven past winners were in the field of players, but none could repeat their past success, as Fearghus Vaughan claimed 1st place on 42 points, Liam O’Connor 2nd with 37 points and Niall Rafferty 3rd on 33 points.
The previous holder of the cup, Kieran Masterson, released his grasp of the trophy and presented Fearghus with the Rosemount Cup afterwards.
The final outing of the year will take place in October and this will determine the overall golfer of the year. A number of players are in the running for this title, so it probably won’t be settled until the final few holes of the final round. (Like all the good golf championships)
