To reduce our carbon footprint, Walls continues to explore and adopt more sustainable alternatives in our daily site operations and throughout our business.
An electric powered tower crane (Liebherr 200 EC) on our Claremont, Howth project is contributing to reducing our carbon emissions, being powered by a high-performance battery generator (45 kva lithium battery paired with 100kva Generator), rather than diesel. Due to the site’s proximity to the Dart line, the crane is operated at 70% capacity but has successfully lifted Loads of up to 4.5T during its trial period resulting in an estimated 50% reduction in fuel consumption. Watch this space as we trial the use of electric power on cranes on other sites!
